Description
Autometer's mechanical oil, transmission and water temperature gauges include the 2273 1/2" NPT adapter fitting. The gauge has a copper capillary tubing filled with ether gas and when the gas expands, the needle on the gauge rises.
Towards the top edge of the probe, there's a tapered seat that gets compressed between the adapter fitting and the 5/8-18 tube nut (usually blue).
