This bushing bolts onto the backside of EMPI's or Latest Rage's weld-on shifter boxes. The inside diameter of this bushing is 7/8". This bushing does NOT go inside the tunnel on an OEM beetle. If you're looking for the OEM bushing, that is part number 111-701-259-A.
Normally customers use 7/8" x 0.065" wall tubing to make their shift rod. They cut the cup / socket off of an OEM beetle's shift rod and weld that to the front side of the shift rod. For the transmission side, you'll weld on a 16-2070-0 or 17-2724-0 adjustable shift rod tip, then use an early or late model VW shift coupler to connect to the transmission.
We don't sell 7/8" x 0.065" wall but we do sell a slightly thicker 7/8" x 0.095" wall tubing for strength. If you use 0.095" wall, you'll have to grind out the end of the pipe for the 16-2070-0 or 17-2724-0 to fit into it.
