Product Information:

Normally customers use 7/8" x 0.065" wall tubing to make their shift rod. They cut the cup off of an OEM beetle's shift rod and weld that to the front side of the shift rod. For the transmission side, you'll weld the 16-2070-0 adjustable shift rod tip, then use an early model VW shift coupler to connect to the transmission.

We don't sell 7/8" x 0.065" wall but we do sell a slightly thicker 7/8" x 0.095" wall tubing for strength. If you use 0.095" wall, you'll have to grind out the end of the pipe for the shoulder of the 16-2070-0 to fit into.

The shoulder on this adjuster is slightly less than 3/4". It will also fit into 1" x 0.120" wall tubing, but if you're building everything around EMPI's 00-3158-0 or 00-3158-7 or Latest Rage's 711990 weld-on shifter boxes or using a stock VW shift rod tunnel, the weld-on boxes and the OEM tunnel use a 7/8" ID bushing for a 7/8" shifter rod.
