Autometer 9117 Tachometer 12 Volt Square Wave Signal Adapter For Distributorless Ignition Systems

This weatherproof module wires into the POWER SUPPLY wire of a coil per cylinder ignition system. It senses current and creates a conventional 12V square wave signal output which can be utilized by Autometer tachometers. Designed for vehicles without a distributor such as modern day EFI electronic fuel injection systems with individual coil packs on each cylinder.

Compatible with 1 to 12 cylinder engines, but it cannot be used with a capacitive discharge ignition system such as MSD. The voltage on the coil pack's positive wire must be below 18 volts.

Most coil packs will have 3 wires for ground, power and signal (4 wires on systems that have a diagnostic wire). The 9117 adapter goes in between the POWER SUPPLY wire NOT THE COIL PACK'S SIGNAL WIRE! !

Wiring:

• RED is the input wire that connects to the 12 volt supply wire that fed a coil pack
• RED/GREEN is the output wire that now feeds that coil pack with 12 volts
• BLACK wire connects to the engine ground
• GRAY wire is the tach signal wire that connects to the green wire on the tachometer

Autometer also makes the 9123 for GM Chevy LS engines and 9126 for Ford engines. Both of those kits include the above 9117 adapter and are plug and play, no splicing wires required.
