Pre-heating oil in a dry or wet sump system is important to ensure good lubrication on initial startup. Peterson's immersion heaters do a great job of pre-heating your oil, however, it requires welding a bung into the dry sump oil tank reservoir if it does not already have a bung. The heater features a 110 volt detachable cord and comes complete with both steel and aluminum 1/2" NPT pipe thread bungs.
Some of Peterson's dry sump tanks already have the 1/2" NPT bung welded to the tank such as the 08-0783 and 08-0784 drag racing tanks or the 08-9016 and 08-9018 Dirt Late Model tanks.
If you're unable to weld a bung to your existing tank, Peterson also makes the 08-0301 and 08-0302 wrap around heating pads.
