Underneath the pipe thread, the probe is 5/16" diameter and 1/2" long. If you're using this with the 2278 or 2277 metric adapter fittings, you'll have to drill the fitting for this probe to fit through it. If you have a full sweep temperature gauge, you would use the 2252 sending unit instead. Or if you have a newer 1996 and later gauge, you would use the 2258 or 2259 instead.
