Autometer makes a variety of different fuel level gauges to match the resistance range of your existing fuel sending unit. This gauge works with most 1965 to 1997 Chevrolet/GM senders (sold separately). 1998 was right at the transition when GM changed from a 0-90 Ohm sender to a 40-250 Ohm sender.
